Most people who book a car in for a scratch or a noisy brake do not want to lose the car for a week. At our garage on Garman Road in Tottenham Hale we run a simple model: drop the car off in the morning, and for a lot of common jobs you drive it away the same day. This guide explains how that works in practice, what we can realistically turn around in a day, what genuinely takes longer, and why having bodywork and mechanical under one roof saves you chasing two separate garages.
What same-day actually means
Same-day means the work is booked, done, and finished while you wait or while you are at work, with the car ready to collect before we close. It is not a gimmick. We are open every day from 08:00 to 22:00, which gives us a long working day to get jobs through. The earlier the car arrives, the more we can fit in, so a morning drop-off is best for anything involved.
It works because we keep common paint, parts, and consumables in stock, and because we have the spray booth, the welding gear, and the ramps in the same building. There is no waiting on a third party to take the car for the mechanical half of the job and then send it back for the paint.
What we can usually do in a day
Plenty of everyday repairs fit inside a single day. The most common ones:
- Scratches, scuffs, and single-panel paint. Most bumper scuffs, door scratches, and single-panel resprays are a same-day job with our same-day car paint service. Colour is matched to your car's paint code so the panel blends in. If you want a rough idea of cost before you come in, read how much it costs to fix a car scratch.
- Brakes. A lot of brake replacement work (pads, discs, or both on an axle) can be done same day once we have the parts. If you are not sure whether you need it, the signs your brakes need replacing guide covers the warning signs.
- Diagnostics. If a warning light is on, we plug in and read the fault codes with our car diagnostics service so you know what you are dealing with. Many of the fixes that follow are quick.
- Servicing. A standard car service is usually a same-day job. If you want to know what is covered, see what a car service includes.
- Smaller mechanical jobs. Many suspension repairs and other routine fixes turn around the same day once parts are on hand.
What takes longer than a day
We would rather tell you straight than promise a deadline we cannot hit. Some jobs need more time, and rushing them is how you end up with a poor finish or a repeat fault:
- Heavy accident damage. When several panels are involved, or there is structural damage, the car needs stripping, straightening, and rebuilding before any paint goes on. We handle welding and the full repair in house, but it is a multi-day job done properly.
- Timing chains. A timing chain replacement is roughly a full day of labour on its own, sometimes longer depending on the engine, so it is not something to slot in around other work.
- Bigger engine work. Larger engine repairs depend on what is found once the engine is opened up, and on parts availability.
- Extensive welding. Sill and chassis welding, or anything feeding into MOT preparation, takes the time it takes to be done safely.
Even on the longer jobs, the same advantage applies: you are dealing with one garage from the first quote to handing back the keys.
If you are not sure whether your job is a same-day one, call us with the make, model, and a quick description. We will tell you honestly before you bring the car in.
The one-roof advantage
The usual headache with car repairs is the split between body shops and mechanics. A body shop sends you to a garage for the mechanical work; the garage sends you back for the paint. You end up booking twice, driving across town twice, and paying two lots of admin.
We do both. Paint, welding, and bodywork sit alongside full mechanical work: brakes, servicing, diagnostics, suspension, engine repairs, and timing chains. So if a kerbed alloy area also needs new brake pads, or an accident dent comes with a knock in the suspension, it is one booking, one quote, one collection. We also fit window tinting and full car wrapping if you want to change the look while the car is in.
Accident and insurance work
If you have had a bump, we handle accident and insurance-claim repairs in house. You do not need to find a separate approved body shop and a separate garage. Bring the car in, we assess it, and we deal with the repair from start to finish, including any mechanical damage behind the visible dents.
How to get a quote
Quotes are free and there is no obligation. There are three easy ways:
- Call 07349 766832 (or 020 3582 3444) and describe the job.
- Send a photo over WhatsApp. For paintwork and dents, a clear photo often gets you a price without a visit.
- Drive in. We are at 59 Garman Rd, London N17 0UN, open every day 08:00 to 22:00.
For paint and bodywork, a photo in daylight showing the damage and the surrounding panel is enough to give you a rough figure. For mechanical work, the make, model, year, and a description of the symptom get us most of the way.

For a lot of common jobs, yes. Most scratch, scuff, and single-panel paint repairs, many brake jobs, diagnostics, and standard servicing can be done in a day if you drop the car off in the morning. Heavy accident damage, timing chains, and extensive welding take longer, and we will tell you that up front.
