How often should I service my car?+
Most cars are serviced once a year or at a set mileage, whichever comes first, with many drivers doing an interim service partway through if they cover a lot of miles. Your handbook gives the maker's schedule. If you are not sure when it was last done, tell us your mileage and rough timing and we will advise what your car needs.
Is a service the same as an MOT?+
No, they are different. An MOT is a legal roadworthiness test with a pass or fail, while a service is preventative maintenance that changes oil and filters and checks wear before things fail. A good service often means fewer MOT surprises, because we flag worn brakes, tyres and other common failures early. We can prepare your car so it is ready to pass.
